As I sit in McDonald's listening to Céline Deon blaring overhead, I'm struck by the level of cultural emersion I have achieved by Day Two. I've just arrived and have already seen so much of la vie Parisienne -- without ever having to leave my bedroom!
Paris is known as "the city of lights," and I can attest to that:
My bedroom's one source of light.
Purveyors of impeccable taste, the French really know how to decorate.
Pretty sure that blanket is a glamorous blend of polyester and cat fur.
And, oh! The view!
A prime example of the belle architecture Paris is famous for.
Unfortunately, I think that the honeymoon period will come to an end soon, and when I finally venture beyond the luxurious confines of ma chambre, I will no doubt be underwhelmed by the overrated Notre Dame Cathedral or commercial sellout, the Louvre.*
We'll see.
*Note: This is probably grammatically incorrect.
*I haven't forgotten the Louvre's desperate turn as dark and mysterious museum in The Da Vinci Code. A flat performance.
